Sex Magick: The Energies Between the Sheets
Sexual power is a strong and passionate tool used in magick. It is a combination of all the energies being released, absorbed, and intertwined during any sexual activity including the simple act of whispering erotica into a partner’s ear.1 When practicing magick, any spell, ritual, visualization, etc. requires an energy source. In sex magick, this energy source builds up inside each person’s body, usually, before climaxing. The longer an orgasm is building, the more intense it'll be. It’s no different in magick. Stretching the time that it takes an orgasm to climb and fall into combustion results in an explosive release of energy propelled into one’s intentions.1
The Sex Chakra
The sacral chakra, or sex chakra, is located at the perineum, the space between the genitalia and the anus. It represents “the cycles of birth, death, and rebirth.”6 The sacral is correlated with sensuality, creativity, and in some beliefs, confidence in the self.6 Mentioning the sacral chakra is critical because of its importance with sex magick. When one’s sacral chakra is blocked, the energies that come from sexual acts will be significantly lacking in power.
Some physical signs of this chakra being blocked are low back pain, complications with the bladder or kidneys, pain during intercourse, and low libido.6 Emotional symptoms of a blocked sacral include the inability to express emotions clearly, overindulgence in sexual desires, and disinterest in sex altogether.6
Balancing the sex chakra can take time, but it is not impossible. Practicing self-love through masturbation and amplifying either masculine or feminine energies can help immensely.6 In addition, asana positions in yoga specifically target the sacral.6 These include poses like Happy Baby, Squat, and Goddess Pose.6 Other ways to remove the blockage are tapping into creativity through painting, drawing, or any other desired medium, and using previously cleansed crystals.6 Balancing the sacral chakra is incredibly important before navigating through the realm of sexual magick due to the need for a fluid flow of energy.
Tantric Sex Practice
Multiple types of sex magick exist. However, not all of them require an epic climax. Although there are conflicting ideas of its origin, rooted in Buddhist and Hindu teachings lays tantric sex. The term tantric comes from the Sanskrit word “tantra” meaning woven together.2 The original technique and traditions of tantra for spiritual growth and manifestation have been Westernized by “spiritual travelers.”3 They witnessed tantric rituals and twisted them into a practice for ultimate ascension that is fundamentally based on penetrative sex.3 The true final destination during this practice is intimacy—a merging together of partners to create one mindfulness.2 It results in an incredible bond that can strengthen relationships with skills such as restraint, communication, and awareness of the body.2
In practice, tantric sex magick involves synchronization of the breath.2 This allows the act to essentially become “one movement.”2 Since tantra is the symbolization of being intertwined, this is especially important. As mentioned before, the primary goal is intimacy, and gazing into each other’s eyes provides the ultimate connection.2 If orgasm is a factor, eye contact is especially beneficial during the peak of climax. Additionally, the focus should be on exploring each other’s bodies, their likes, dislikes, the way her stomach curves here, or the way his jawline presses into the skin.2 Engaging the senses is incredibly important during tantric sex because of the awareness of self.2 For example, bringing things like whipped cream, ice, or chocolate into the bedroom can activate taste and increase sensual desire.2
Kama Sutra
Another type of sexual magick is Kama Sutra, sometimes written as Kamasutra.5 Hindu texts show kama means “sexual and aesthetic desires,” while sutra means “line” or “thread.”5 Together, Kama Sutra means “scriptures of desire.”5 Unlike some of the other sexual magick techniques, it is less about sex and more about the magick that occurs during the act.4 Practicing Kama Sutra can result in intense personal ascension that reaches unprecedented levels of the highest self.4 Like the other types of sex magick, it can be used as a means of manifesting your greatest desires.4
This practice involves numerous sex positions meant to amplify the already powerful energy occurring during sensual activities. Many of the texts available about Kama Sutra emphasize a man putting the woman’s pleasure at the forefront, and the 64 positions the practice recommends reflect that.7 Many of which are already incredibly popular like 69, pretzel dip, and doggy style.7
Additionally, there are numerous types of kisses that the Kama Sutra emphasizes a woman gives: “the measured, the throbbing, and the inviting kiss.”8 The “measured kiss” is offered when a woman does not move her mouth.8 The “throbbing kiss” occurs when a woman places the partner’s lip in her mouth.8 Finally, the “inviting kiss” is offered when a woman kisses her partner’s thigh and looks up at them while resting her face on their leg.8 The many recommendations the Kama Sutra gives are able to drastically benefit the sexual energy inside—and outside—the bedroom.
How to Begin Practicing Sex Magick
Before practicing any magick it is imperative to cleanse oneself. With sex magick, a calming bath with candles and essential oils would not only neutralize negativity but would also provide a beginning to the sensual energy one is about to create.4 After cleansing, slowly move into arousing the bodies. Partners should stay in this phase for as long as possible.4 The beginning of a ritual is just as important as the middle, end, and outcome. Once the climax begins, one should begin visualizing their intentions coming to fruition.4 Sigils with desired meanings can be placed around the room for partners to look at, focus on, and entirely propel their energy on.1 At the peak of orgasm, one should completely release all the energy they’ve built up and attentively push it into the visualization of the desired outcome.1 Afterward, partners should thank the Universe and any deities they wish.4
Breathing in the Magick
Breathing is a tool in sexual magick just as the body is. It is critical to fully relax the body and breathe deeply so one isn’t harboring any of the sensual energy. Some teachings emphasize synchronizing the breath with that of the partner(s).2 This further strengthens the bond between lovers. Additionally, partners should ensure they are visualizing breathing in the energy. Visualization of breathing in the magick will strengthen one’s intentions. Further, the body's natural response is to tense right before and during climax. To ensure the ultimate flow of sexual energy, try to stay as relaxed as possible. Prior to orgasm, one should deliberately and fully breathe in sexual energy. At the peak of orgasm, the breath should be fully released as one focuses all the energy into their intentions. If partners find they have a hard time relaxing during intercourse, it can be beneficial to practice meditation prior to participating in sex magick.

What is sacred geometry?
The Oxford dictionary defines geometry as the branch of mathematics concerned with the properties and relations of points, lines, surfaces, solids, and higher dimensional analogs.1 In simple terms, it is a sub-topic of mathematics that focuses on the connections between shapes and how they sit in spaces.
